Calamint is a terrific, low-maintenance, sun-loving perennial that is a pollinator magnet! Plants we’ve been growing since 2022 are covered in bees — and occasional butterflies and hummingbirds — from summer til frost.
This ‘White Cloud’ cultivar grows 12-24 in. tall and wide, and becomes covered in a cloud of bright-white blooms beginning in early summer. The ‘White Cloud’ cultivar features larger and showier pure-white flowers than the parent species, creating a “cloud-like” effect when in full bloom. Blooms can go all summer, typically from June through October or first frost, especially if you encourage reblooming by occasionally shearing if blooming wanes.
Another great feature is that its leaves are wonderfully fragrant — making them deer resistant, but also filling the vicinity of this plant with herb-minty freshness and inviting you to crush a few leaves as you pass by. [Note: Plants purchased in fall may be sheared back for next year’s growth.]
