This low-maintenance, sun-loving perennial is so terrific that it was selected as 2021's Perennial Plant of the Year! Calamint grows ~15-18 in. tall, and becomes covered in a cloud of small, white to pale-blue blooms beginning in early summer; shear back flowers for rebloom until frost.
Prefers full sun and various soils, but is tolerant drought and light shade. Very attractive to bees and butterflies — the plants we have been growing since 2022 are filled with bees from summer through fall! Another great feature is that its leaves are wonderfully fragrant — making them deer resistant, but also filling the vicinity of this plant with minty freshness and inviting you to crush a few leaves as you pass by.
