Acer palmatum (Green Foliage Group Japanese maple) (1 gal)
Within the green-foliage group of Japanese Maples, this unnamed selection is a mid-sized tree propagated and donated by one of the NPSF board members. It features lovely, delicate green foliage that turns red, yellow & orange in the fall.
It grows 15-20 feet in height, slightly less in width. Japanese Maples, though originally from Asia and parts of Russia, are beloved for their tolerance of a wide range of growing conditions, capacity for drought-tolerance in our PNW climate, attractive, deeply-dissected leaves, and their spectacular fall color show and striking and colorful winter bark and form!
Japanese maples prefer well-drained soil, some dappled or afternoon shade, and protection from strong winds. Water deeply and infrequently in the dry months to get established, slowly pulling water back after the first few years to encourage increased drought tolerance as it matures.
