Viola adunca (Early Blue Violet)

$0.00

This lovely, fragrant native viola features flowers that are lavender-blue to deep purple with a white throat, and show from spring to early summer, attracting pollinators and serving as an important larval host species for several native butterflies and moths.

The low-growing (3-6 in. high), dark-green heart-shaped leaves form tidy clusters from gently spreading, slender rhizomes. An excellent option for low growing areas along pathways and perennial borders. The leaves and flowers are edible and often added to salads (lots of Vit. A!) or sugared as a cake decoration.

A very adaptable grower, thrives equally well in sunny as well as part shade and dappled light conditions, in a variety of soils. Resistant to deer and drought!
