Rubus spectabilis (Salmonberry)

$0.00

Native Salmonberries" brilliant magenta flowers are an early spring delight and offer an important source of nectar to the returning Rufous Hummingbirds.

The flowers are followed by tasty early summer fruit that is usually shiny bright orange (sometimes red) that has the appearance of salmon eggs.

Salmonberry is a relatively low-growing shrub, rarely growing more than 8' in height. In the right conditions, it will form a dense thicket.

Best in part to full shade, and often an indicator of moist soils, though it grows fine in drier conditions. When you find it growing with vigor in full sun, it almost certainly has a source of moisture in the soil.

A super plant for wildlife, naturescapes, and revegetation projects.
