Ribes divaricatum (Coastal Black Gooseberry)

$0.00

A super native deciduous shrub for creating habitat in a wide range of site conditions.

In spring, stunning small, pendulous flowers with red petals and a white corolla appear, and become prickly sour fruits whose final color ripens to a shiny black. Fall color is soft yellow to orange.

The maple-shaped leaves have are strongly aromatic, naturally resisting deer and rabbits.

Depending on light and soil type, it will grow to 3-6 ft. tall and wide over time, though in the right conditions it will mature moderately fast. It can handle full sun to a fair bit of shade, especially deciduous shade

Great for wildlife, alone or in a hedgerow, this prickly shrub provides food and cover for songbirds, and supports pollinators.
