Penstemon pinifolius (Pine-leaved Beardtongue)

$0.00

Bring on the hummingbirds & other pollinators! This compact cultivar of the evergreen shrublet pine leaved penstemon is one of our best western-USA alpine penstemons to adapt for landscape use!

Starting to bloom in late spring (and a few weeks earlier than other pine-leaved penstemons), the bright orangy-scarlet tubular flowers put forth a long-lasting sequence of bloom (which you can enhance by shearing back to stimulate more blooms later).

Growing only 8-10" high x 15-18" wide, the delicate, evergreen ''pine-leaf'' foliage is low growing and equally super as an accent in a rock garden or massed at the border edge or lining a pathway.

As with all alpine penstemons, don't overwater! Just allow this to become a long-lived drought-tolerant favorite in full sun and well-drained soil.
