Epimedium davidii x lep. 'Fire Dragon' (Fire Dragon Epimedium)

$0.00

A hard-to-find Epimedium, this is an evergreen perennial, growing 10-15 in. tall and 20 in. wide, with unusually large (1.5-2 in.) yellow and purple flowers and heart-shaped green leaves that develop bronze edging.

As with most Epimediums, it prefers bright shade, but is also fine in partial sun to full shade. Likes some regular water to establish, but will ultimately be completely drought-tolerant and fuss-free.  Epimediums are one of the few plants that thrive in dry shade, such as under conifers, and are deer and rabbit resistant.

As with all Epimedium, this variety can grow under trees where many other plants struggle to survive. Epimedium is effective as a groundcover or a featured specimen to highlight in your shady garden space. This water-wise wonder looks natural with native woodland species, such as its close relative, Vancouveria hexandra, along with Bleeding-heart, Star-flowered false Solomon"s-seal, and more. Along with evergreen Hellebores, these retain the structure of the shady perennial garden over winter.
