Cercis orbiculata (Western Redbud)

$0.00

Featuring the same glorious bounty of exquisite pink-purple blooms in springtime as the Eastern Redbud, but in a shrub form rather than a tree. Western Redbud grows as either a compact deciduous shrub or small tree growing, 10-20 ft. (usually shorter) high with multiple trunks and a rounded crown.

After its spectacular bloom period, the flowers become long purple-brown seed pods, adding fall and winter interest, and the rounded heart-shaped leaves turn gold and rust in the fall.

Easy to grow in sun to part shade in well-drained soils, it is often used for slope stabilization and is super in hedgerows! Native to very southern Oregon and into northern California, it is fire resistant and drought tolerant once established.

Attracts hummingbirds, other birds, and many other pollinators, but is deer-resistant.

Note: Western Redbud is a hard-to-find plant! These are small plants (bargain priced), and will grow quickly once they find a new home with you!
