Hummingbirds and other pollinators love our PNW native columbine, which differs significantly from the many cultivars available! Red Columbine features delicate foliage near the ground, from which emerge tall (20-30") "ladders" (once mature) of glorious flowers: reddish-orange spurs with yellow throats.

Best in full to partial sun, dry or moist soils as long as drainage is good. Avoid growing near non-native columbines to prevent possible hybridizing that reduces the value to native pollinators.

Note if you purchase these in our fall sale: They are going dormant, but will be fine planted right away and will re-emerge next spring to delight you and your local hummingbirds!
