'Perlhissen' is an unusual cultivar of our native pussytoes, which features particularly bluish-gray foliage that is mat-forming and typically evergreen (in colder areas, semi-evergreen). In late spring, short stalks (~4-6 in. tall) burst forth from the prostrate foliage, bearing the delightful, fluffy small pink or pale-pink flowers that resemble little pink kitten toes. Pussytoes need sharp drainage and full sun to perform their best. Don't overwater, and let them tolerate drought once they are established. Will spread out about 12-18 in. wide, making them an interesting option between widely-spaced pavers, at the edge of a border, in nooks of an alpine or rock garden, or just mixed with other prairie or alpine native and water-wise perennials.
They don't need deadheading - just enjoy the blooms and the butterflies and other pollinators they attract!
