Curious about our classes and community work? Have fun, learn, and lend a hand with this great community of people!
Below is a summary of ways to get involved, some ongoing and some "as needed." Let us know what interests YOU!
All upcoming events are listed on our CALENDAR, plus you can join our newsletter to be updated of new events as they approach! If there's an event that interests you, or you just want to get a better idea of what goes on behind the scenes, contact us! firstname.lastname@example.org
GET DIRTY: Many of our volunteer opportunities take place in the field. These are often pop-up events that will be listed on our calendar. Some recurring volunteer events that happen every year include our Native Plant Salvages (January-March) and McLane Creek Nature Trail Work Parties (April - July). These are always a fun way to spend time outdoors with wonderful people, and to learn native plant ID!
PLANT NURSERY: Attend a maintenance work party and get to know many of our other fabulous volunteers! Our plant nursery is where we store salvaged plants that are used for local projects and sold at our annual plant sale. Tasks include plant potting/weeding, propagation, equipment organization (tools, pots, plants, etc), and irrigation monitoring.
OFFICE AID: Organize plant tags, work on organization and storage/labeling, help share flyers for workshops/classes, or help us upload data from volunteer events and surveys!
PUBLICITY: Be a member of NPSF's publicity committee, and work together to spread the word about the organization's great resources! Send us an email letting us know you are interested, and we'll set you up with this important work.
JOIN OUR BOARD: As a member of the Native Plant Salvage’s Board of Directors, you have an opportunity to gain valuable experience working in a nonprofit organization. Our dedicated Board Members’ energy and passion for the organization truly shapes and strengthens the impact that we make, from our communities to the greater Puget Sound ecosystem.
SPECIAL EVENTS: We have many fun community events throughout the year, where anybody can come out, meet like-minded friends, and support the mission of the Native Plant Salvage. While many of our events change from year to year, a few that happen every year are: the Annual Dinner (February), the Water-wise Plant Sale (May), and Garden Opens (Year Round). If you would like to attend these fundraisers, or volunteer at the events, we would love to see you there! Just EMAIL US at email@example.com
TAKE A CLASS: We offer a wide variety of classes annually, including Winter Twig ID, Naturescaping, and Monthly Plant Walks! One new opportunity is to receive training to become a Rain Garden Monitor! Read below.
