About the class:

This class is a sequel to our Winter Twig ID Class (offered on Sunday, January 24). During that class, we invite people to learn how to identify 20-25 species of deciduous shrubs and trees in their leafless form.

During our Spring Twigs ID Class, you can expect to learn how to identify the same 20-25 species after the leaves (and some flowers) have emerged. It’s a fantastic way to appreciate and delight in the spring beauty by learning to identify some of our most common native woody plants. Join us for this fun and energetic evening class!

Schedule:

You can expect to learn how to identify 20-25 plants in their spring form over the course of 2 hours and receive a “cheat sheet” and a simplified dichotomous key with our top tips for identifying these species on your own. We encourage you to pair this class with our Winter Twig ID Class.

What to know in advance:

We will send full details and directions to everyone who registers. This is an easy hike along well-maintained trails and boardwalks with little to no elevation gain.

Parking: McLane Creek has two parking areas; drive past the first and meet us at the second. This location requires a Discover Pass, though we can offer you a temporary pass in exchange for future volunteer work at the trail. If you would like to purchase your own pass, you can do so at this link. Please arrive early for check-in and carpool when you can, as parking may be crowded.
