After over 25 years at our west Olympia location, our nursery is moving. This move is a huge undertaking for our foundation, and we will need all the help we can get!
The new nursery site is a family farm in the Littlerock area on Gifford Road Southwest, about a 10-12 mile drive from our current location. We are grateful to the Washington State Department of Transportation for graciously hosting our nursery operations on their site for so long, but they no longer have space for us.
On Saturday, November 1, we will host our first of two moving events, and we will focus on transporting the plants to their new home. There will be a variety of tasks available for people of all abilities.
We will especially need 4-6 volunteers with trucks or utility trailers to help transport plants and possibly other supplies, and we are happy to reimburse for mileage if desired.
We also need 5-10 people to load plants and supplies onto vehicles at the current location and unload them at the new location. This would involve bending and lifting 1-5-gallon plant pots onto carts, then onto the available vehicles. We can vanpool people from the current location to the new site to help with the unloading. You can also meet us at the new location if it is more convenient for you.
Lastly, we will need a traffic manager to coordinate the movement of vehicles. This role will require less physical strength but strong communication skills.
If you’re available for the morning or afternoon shift (or both), please register below. We appreciate any time you’re willing to offer!
