Unfortunately, we are at capacity for this salvage, so we’ve closed registration for February 8th. There is only a certain number of individuals that we can safely accommodate on this site. You are welcome to register for the other three salvages we will be offering in February and March.
If you registered for this event, we’ve sent you an email with all the the neccessary information on February 4th. It is a long email, but please read it carefully. We’ve included details pertaining to the site & nursery addresses, information on parking, how to dress, what to bring, what plants will be available, and much more.
If you registered for this date, but haven’t received that email in your inbox (or spam/promotions inboxes), contact us immediately.
During our salvages, volunteers save small native trees, shrubs, ferns, and herbaceous plants from local areas scheduled for clearing. We often reserve a few scarce species for our own needs. However, we encourage volunteers to take plants home to support their own naturescaping and revegetation projects (especially very large plants and plants that are abundant at the site). If you plan to salvage for yourself, we ask that you also volunteer at least a little time at our nursery during the afternoon shift to help out.
A few important things to note:
We meet at the salvage site starting at 9:30 a.m. and work until about midday. We then head to our South Tumwater nursery to pot up the newly dug plants. We're at the nursery from about 1-3:30 p.m. (sometimes later). We welcome you to join us for either or both parts of the day (or just a little of both!).
Salvage location can change by event — pay attention to the address and map links sent to you after registration.
These are rain or shine or snow or sleet events: dress accordingly!
All events occur in two parts: first at the salvage site and second at our plant nursery. If you’d like to salvage plants for yourself as well, we ask that you volunteer some time at the afternoon nursery work party.
We will provide gloves, tools, and snacks.
Come when you can and stay as long as you’d like!
