Symphoricarpos albus/Common Snowberry

from 4.00

Snowberry is a low-growing shrub whose beauty is most pronounced in winter when its delicate stems hang with bright white fruits. It has tiny pinkish urn-shaped flowers that offer nectar to various pollinators spring through summer. Snowberry tends to grow no more than 4 to 6 feet, but occasional very old stands reach heights up to 9 feet. It can be maintained as a low, bushy shrub without harming it. Snowberry is truly amiracle plant,” as it can grow in virtually any conditions except consistently standing water. It will grow in sandy to clay soils and almost any light conditions but the deepest shade. In sunnier sites, it will produce more flowers and fruits, and will also spread more quickly. Its flowers attract butterflies and hummingbirds, and a few birds eat its berries.
