Nursery Learning & Work Parties *
Saturday mornings, 9:30-11:30am

Fall & Winter Nursery Learning & Work Parties are Saturdays from 9:30-11:30am

Register for an upcoming Nursery Workshop to gain new skills, get some plant time, give back the the community or just to kick it with fellow plant-nerds!

Nursery is located off the corner of RW Johnson Blvd. and 21st Ave. and only open during posted event hours. You will find NPS signs guiding you to our Nursery on event day.

After January comes NPSalvage Season! Join the crew to rescue native plants from development sites and temporarily re-home them at the NPS Nursery! Plants eventually meet their forever-homes in restoration projects or urban plantings.

What we do at the NPSF Nursery:

At the NPSF Nursery (aka the Holding Beds) we propagate plants and store salvaged plants for use in future revegetation and green stormwater projects. To maintain healthy plants, we organize regular work parties, co-sponsored by Thurston County Steam Team, at our nursery throughout the year.

The agenda for each work party varies: we work to propagate native and water-wise plants, re-pot plants that have outgrown their pots into larger ones, transfer bare-root plant-stock and bulbs to pots, weed and organize already potted plants, keep the walkways clean and safe, and additional projects as needed. Occasionally we clean out the tool sheds, sharpen tools, and take inventory.

These work parties provide a great backdrop to get connected with our board members, to catch up with friends and fellow volunteers, and make new friends as well - they always prove to be a good time for all!
