Pollution-Prevention Plantings at Thurston Co. Accountability & Restitution Center

Save the dates! Once again, we’re partnering with Thurston County to beautify the local criminal justice center, while also installing plantings that support water conservation, Pesticide-Free Zones, and elimination of erosion that goes straight to Percival Creek! We’ll likely be working every day this week, unless we finish early. We’ll plant and mulch, learn about the plants used and why, and have a lot of fun with fellow plant lovers. Our goal: creating a lasting demonstration project that will make an immediate difference for improving water-quality and habitat in a location where a little dose of nature might also provide solace to the human visitors, too!

McLane Creek Trail Work Party

Join Stream Team and WSU Native Plant Salvage Project to help maintain both access and ecological diversity at the McLane Creek Nature Trail!

During the growing season, plants encroach on the popular walking trail and volunteers help trim back plants and remove weeds along the trail, while being mindful of not harming native plants or causing “trail widening.” Volunteers learn about plant species and proper maintenance techniques.

Volunteers should wear sturdy shoes or boots and dress appropriately for the weather. We provide gloves, tools, and light refreshments. More details sent to registrants.
